The first thing you should know about me is I'm not a computer technician. I'm not a software writer or IT geek. I don't dream in binary code or speak in computer jargon. Like you, perhaps, I just got a computer and went through many agonizing months learning how to use it. When I bought my first computer I didn't know the difference between a hard drive and RAM. It took lots of time to get through the frustrating early stages of learning, but day by day I began to understand how to make my wonderful machine work (although I was tempted many times to throw the darn thing in the nearest river). Then a peculiar thing happened. Once it started to make sense I discovered that I just LOVED my computer. I began to dissect the terms that had been so confusing and translated them into terms I could use and understand. As my interest grew I subscribed to computer magazines, bought books and CD ROM instruction guides. I went to computer seminars and found to my surprise that I understood computers better than most of the others attending. More important, I could talk about computers in regular English. People who knew me thought I'd gone through a personality transplant! Next thing I knew I was the "go to" guy for computer help among my friends and family. Friends started referring me to their friends and people started offering to pay me to help them learn their computers, to install software and upgrades. That's how I got into Computer Coaching. I chose the term "Coacher" because that best describes what I do. More than just training, I like to encourage and empower people to get the most out of their computers and actually to enjoy the process. If you're a computer expert looking for advanced training, my Computer Coaching probably isn't for you. But if you just wish someone would explain computers in plain English, build your confidence and not talk down to you, then you'll find Computer Coaching to be a really satisfying experience. And you'll have fun! My friend Curtis put up a really cool way to check the time.
