    If you've looked at digital camcorders recently you're sure to have heard of "IEEE 1394." (Apple, which initiated development of the technology, calls it "FireWire.")

    I got a chuckle when I found out what IEEE stands for. Only a bunch of engineers would put the terms "Electrical" and "Electronic" in their name!
